A still warm evening greeted the riders for the first of the season's championship events, with a 10 mile competition on the Red Wall near Walshford.
With times very consistent with previous rides on the course, Sam Ward posted the fastest time on the night of 20:50, with Matt Asquith (22:11) second and Jonathan Hobbs (22:22) third. Junior Daniel Middlebrooke recorded an impressive 23:10.
The women's competition was hotly contested, with race team member Emily Middlebrooke riding a 25:20, a mere 4s ahead of previous competition winner Helen Goldthorpe (25:24). Emma Dooley (27:20) rounded out the podium.
Former club president Tony Wild showed most improvement of his previous rides to take the handicap competition by over a minute.
Congratulations to all winners and riders, and thank you to the volunteers.
Next week returns to the main Triangle course (roadworks permitting). Details of the upcoming season can be found at this page and if you can help assist marshal the events, add your name to this sheet
