Congratulations to Olivia French of OCC who become the National Road Bike Ladies TT Champion on Sunday, 7 June.
Here are Olivia’s thoughts on her day:
“I travelled to the National Road Bike Championship held on the Tour of the Meldons course. The race started out with a hard climb and then all the descending was into a very strong headwind. My goal was to ride the climbs hard and get as aero as possible everywhere else. I was pleased to come away with the win and my first national jersey!
The event was exceptionally well organised, with fantastic support from the organisers and volunteers throughout the day. It was great experience to compete against a strong national field while representing Otley CC at a championship event. The time trial practice at the club’s Thursday evening events were excellent preparation for the race; they’re also some of the most enjoyable evenings on the club calendar and I’d encourage anyone interested in time trialling to give them a go”.
So, a fantastic edition of the 22-mile Tour of the Meldons, near Peebles which doubled as the CTT UK Road Bike Champs. The Archibald family were in full attendance with John winning the open event and recently "retired" sister Katie on hand to pass on the women's trophy to her successor....... our very own Olivia French in a time of 58:49.
Congratulations Olivia from all of your proud friends and supporters at OCC!
