In contrast to the sleet and hail that have opened the Triangle season in the past, the first event of this season was greeted by hot calm conditions, and with it a strong field of members and guests. Joining the 9 OCC members on the 10 mile 'Red Wall' course, we had 5 top level triathletes sign on, not least of which were Olympian Jonny Brownlee and world ranked top 10 athlete Lucy Byram.
Both of these posted the fastest men's and women's times on the night, with 20:36 for Brownlee and 21:32 for Byram. OCC member Sam Ward gave Brownlee a run for his money though, with a time only 6s slower! Fastest OCC woman was Helen Goldthorpe in 26:31.
We return to the Red Wall next week for another 10, which will also be a good chance to test the course before the 10 Championship on the 20th May.
